Ozone detectors used in the disinfect of Covid-19

These days there is a huge use of UV and ozone (O3) generators to kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Hospitals, factories  and businesses are desinfecting rooms, offices, and other spaces during off hours.

COVID-19 disinfection

During ozone treatment, manufacturers recommend concentrations above 20 ppm O3 to disinfect. UV light kills viruses, but generates ozone. Workers who sterilize multiple equipment can apply several thousand ppm of ozone.

Ozone is highly toxic to humans, and therefore MP100 monitors are being used to ensure that residual ozone has been decomposed or vented before employees can safely re-enter into the workspace. The 8-hour exposure limit is approximately 0.07 ppm O3 in many countries, including most of Europen ones. In Spain, the INSHT makes the following VLA-ED recommendations:

0.05 ppm heavy duty
0.08 ppm for moderate work
0.10 ppm for light duty
<0.20 ppm for more than 2 h in continuous

Our MP100 ozone monitor has a resolution of 0.01 ppm and can measure up to 5 ppm of ozone with a response time of 60 seconds, making this small, low-cost equipment suitable and accurate to protect people
