We have signed with the Department of the Interior of the Generalitat of Catalonia the contract for the supply, installation and maintenance of 575 electrochemical sensors for the detection of toxic substances within the framework of PLASEQTA. The contract includes the replacement of the 56 sensors already installed within the framework of the 2021 pilot test, which have become obsolete.

The sensors will detect a total of 8 different toxic substances and will be installed in the North industrial area of Tarragona, South and Port of Tarragona, specifically in the municipalities of Constantí, Morell, els Pallaresos, Perafort, la Pobla de Mafumet, Tarragona, Vilaseca, Canonja and Reus.

Previously, we had already installed 33 hydrogen sulfide detectors between the chemical industries of the North industrial estate and the residential areas of La Pobla de Mafumet, El Morell and Perafort, and supplied 24 portable gas detection equipment for the security personnel deployed in the La Palma volcanic emergency.

The 8 toxic substances that will be detected are: sulfur dioxide, ethylene oxide, hydrogen sulfide, chlorine, ammonia, hydrogen chloride, phosgene and acrylonitrile. These substances to be measured are those that can cause accidents with toxic clouds that affect the exterior of Seveso companies according to the General Directorate of Industry - Industrial Safety.

In the North Industrial Estate of Tarragona, 175 sensors are planned to be installed that will detect sulfur dioxide, ethylene oxide and hydrogen sulfide.

In the South Industrial Estate and in the Port of Tarragona, the installation of 400 sensors is planned that will detect 7 different substances: sulfur dioxide, chlorine, ammonia, ethylene oxide, hydrogen chloride, phosgene and acrylonitrile.

The sensors will be installed on different supports such as lighting lanterns, electrical towers, concrete poles of electricity towers, walls of buildings or wooden poles of electrical wiring.

More than one sensor can be installed in the same location, depending on the chemicals that need to be detected in that area.
